When you walk down Market Street in Wooster, the historic Germania Hall building stands out. Built in 1878, it was once considered the "skyscraper" of the area, and is now the home to The City Square Steakhouse.

In 2008, renowned chef Mike Mariola and his wife, Emily, opened The City Square Steakhouse with the vision of pairing urban sophistication with Wooster's small-town charm. The restaurant has been a Wooster institution from its start and brings gourmet food, a top-notch bar, and outstanding service together for an exceptional dining experience.

Husband and I got there around 45 minutes early for our reservation. Our table was ready so we were immediately seated. Had lemon drop martini and rum punch. Ordered seafood bisque and french onion soup. I had sirloin steak he had beeef stroganoff. Both meals fantastic! Service top notch and can't wait to return in the future.

The city Square Steakhouse was all we were hoping for. Great atmosphere, clean, well staffed and food was excellent with a fabulous wine selection. We started with the charcuterie board that was farm fresh from local farms, then moved onto a very well prepared steaks and butter cake for dessert. But all in all it was the staff that made it a great experience!!

Wow! This place is a hidden gem in Historic Downtown Wooster. Happened to be walking by with my partner, and the manager Taylor and Olivia were standing outside. I made a joke about free samples, and then we decided to go in for a drink. Jackie and the other bartender were phenomenal! My hot and dirty martini was perfect, and her wine recommendation for him was spot on. Decided to have some appetizers too; the crispy calamari and the house chips were amazing. We will DEFINITELY be back again.

Not only is city square amazing for a brunch/lunch/dinner with friends - family - date night , any day of the week, it is also a one of a kind experience for a private event. The staff members- who are an amazing group of people- go above and beyond to make your event the most memorable. Every staff member was extremely attentive, friendly, professional and they straight up do everything they can to make sure you and your guests have the best night! The food, service and drinks are 5/5 stars!
